Explore Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh has a lot to see and do. If you have any spare time to explore the city while you're in town, here are a few things we recommend:

Libations

Bierport
4115 Butler St, Pittsburgh, PA 15201 bierport.com

Bierport is a dog-friendly bar and bottle shop in Lawrenceville, and one of our absolute favorite places to grab a drink before dinner. They have a great tap list, and a classic Sega Genesis set up with loads of games.

Gristhouse
10 E Sherman St, Pittsburgh, PA 15209 gristhouse.com

Gristhouse is a summertime favorite. Their spacious, dog-friendly outdoor area combined with their Hazedelic Juice Grenade makes this the perfect place to hang out on a sunny day, and their cozy bar and enclosed deck make it a great spot year round.

Lorelei
124 S Highland Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15206 www.loreleipgh.com

Great snacks, fantastic cocktail bar, and great tap room all rolled into one.

Roundabout
4901 Butler St, Pittsburgh, PA 15201 roundaboutbeer.com/

Our favorite local brewery is Roundabout, and it happens to be where we got engaged. This brewery is New Zealand inspired and makes some of the most consistently delicious beer in town.

Wigle Whiskey
2401 Smallman St, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 wiglewhiskey.com

Wigle is the first whisky distillery in Pittsburgh since before prohibition. Their spirits have won numerous awards, and are used in cocktails all over Pittsburgh and beyond. Schedule a tour, or just stop in to try some whisky or have a cocktail.

Restaurants

B52
5202 Butler St, Pittsburgh, PA 15201 www.b52pgh.com

B52 is a vegan cafe that never disappoints. The fries and falafel are standout.

Baby Loves Tacos
4508 Liberty Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15224 www.babylovestacospgh.com

Imagine Chipotle if it were run by former Brooklynites with a passion for good food and community. When the weather is nice, Nick will walk down here for lunch way too many times a week.

Bitter Ends
4613 Liberty Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15224 www.tillthebitterends.com

Bitter Ends is a little diner with the best breakfast sandwiches and donuts.

Driftwood
3615 Butler St, Pittsburgh, PA 15201 www.driftwoodoven.com

Driftwood Pizza was near-legendary in the local food-truck scene, and they didn't miss a step when they opened their brick-and-mortar shop in Lawrenceville. They serve pizza on a sourdough crust that never disappoints.

Everyday Noodle
5875 Forbes Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15217 www.everydaynoodles.net

Everyday Noodle is the Chinese noodle place in Pittsburgh. Everything is good, but the soup dumplings are the crown jewel of this place.

Smallman Galley OR Federal Galley
54 21st St, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 www.smallmangalley.org
200 Children's Way, Pittsburgh, PA 15212 www.federalgalley.org

Smallman and Federal Galley are restaurant incubators (think food court for aspiring restauranteurs) that have launched a handful of great restaurants into the world. They have a new group of restaurants every six months or so. Michigan & Trumbull got their start here before they abandoned us for Detroit. We're still not over it.

Smoke
4115 Butler St, Pittsburgh, PA 15201 smokepgh.com

Smoke is one of our absolute favorite places in town despite the fact that they canceled their beloved burger night. They do barbecue and tacos. Caroline's favorite is the nachos, and Nick loves the Broccolini and Corn.

Walter's BBQ
4501 Butler St, Pittsburgh, PA 15201 walterspgh.com

Walter's is another great summertime spot that holds up just as well in the winter. They serve delicious barbecue, beer and cocktails. The chicken sandwich and chicken and waffles get high praise from the bride and groom.

Museums

Mattress Factory
500 Sampsonia Way, Pittsburgh, PA 15212 mattress.org

The Mattress Factory is a contemporary art museum located right in the middle of our old neighborhood. This is well worth a visit if you have some time to explore.

The Warhol
117 Sandusky St, Pittsburgh, PA 15212 www.warhol.org

The Warhol is the largest museum devoted to the work of a single artist.

Record Stores

The Attic
513 Grant Ave, Millvale, PA 15209 www.atticrecordstoreinc.com

The Attic is our favorite record store in town. It is the sweet spot between the clean and curated small record store like Government Center and the hoarder's paradise that is Jerry's.

Government Center
519 E Ohio St, Pittsburgh, PA 15212 www.thegovernmentcenter.com

The Government Center is Pittsburgh newest record store, and boasts a small but very well curated collection. Nick has found records here several times that he never expected to find anywhere.

Other

Commonwealth Press
4707 Liberty Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15224 www.cwpress.com

If you're looking for something Pittsburgh themed to take home, this is a great alternative to the shops in the strip district.

The Strip District
The Strip District

The Strip District is Pittsburgh's market district. Highlights here are Smallman Galley, Pennsylvania Macaroni Company, Allegheny Tea & Coffee Exchange, Gaucho Parilla Argentina, Mancini's Bread, Parma Meats, Wholey's Seafood Market and way too many people selling Pittsburgh sports merch.

Wild Card
4209 Butler St, Pittsburgh, PA 15201 wildcardpgh.com

This is a small independent card and gift shop in Lawrenceville. There is usually something fun to discover in here.
